About the match

Tip-off of the NBA Finals — a 13-day, best-of-seven, 2-2-1-1-1 format that has, over the last decade, produced almost as many sweeps as seven-game classics. Game 1 is on the home floor of the higher seed, on a Wednesday night, on ABC, with Mike Breen on the call. Participants are still TBD as the Conference Finals haven't tipped, but the league's competitive map is in a healthier place than it has been for years — three or four credible Eastern teams and a wide-open West. Don't expect a 100-point game; the modern playoff slowdown is real. Do expect every possession to feel like the difference between a banner and an off-season.

Tipoff 8:30pm ET on Wed 3 June (ABC). Home team: TBD (higher seed). Participants TBD pending Conference Finals.
